Supporting Your Recovery at Home
We understand that shopping and preparing nutritious meals can be difficult following a stroke, particularly when you are experiencing fatigue, reduced mobility or changes in concentration.
RE:FUEL makes healthy eating easier by providing tasty, balanced and convenient meals that you can take home and enjoy. It is one less thing to worry about—and another positive step towards supporting your recovery, independence and quality of life.
Why Good Nutrition Matters After a Stroke
Recovery continues long after you leave the rehabilitation centre. Eating a healthy, balanced diet can help you maintain your strength and energy while supporting your overall physical and emotional wellbeing.
Good nutrition can also help manage high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and weight—all important factors in reducing the risk of another stroke. A balanced diet should include plenty of fruit and vegetables, fibre-rich wholegrains, lean sources of protein and healthier fats, while limiting salt, saturated fat and highly processed foods.
Individual Dietary and Swallowing Needs
Some stroke survivors experience swallowing difficulties, known as dysphagia. If you have been advised to follow a modified-texture diet or a particular eating plan, you should always follow the guidance provided by your speech and language therapist, dietitian or healthcare professional. Please tell our team about any allergies or dietary requirements before ordering.
Healthy eating should complement—not replace—prescribed medication, rehabilitation or professional medical advice.
Further information is available from the NHS and the Stroke Association.
